Each year in the Chinese Lunar Calendar is assigned with one animal sign – and it happens to be a Rooster in 2017.  Apart from animal sign, each zodiac year is also associated with an element, and this year, it is the Fire Rooster. It is believed that people born under the Fire Rooster sign is trustworthy, with a strong sense of timekeeping and responsibility at work.

Chinese New Year lasts for 15 days. It is a time for family reunion. Families and friends who have not seen each other will visit each other and gather for special meals and gift exchange. Married couples and elderly will give monetary gifts in the form of a red envelope, also known as ‘angpows’ to the younger generations.
